Five things to do in Blackpool

Making a day of it in Blackpool? Here is what we would do, starting with an hour with us and then the places we send people afterwards.

1. Clue HQ Blackpool

We are on the Promenade between the Tower and North Pier, next door to Papas. Three escape rooms, sixty minutes each, private to your group. An easy hour when the weather turns, which on that stretch of coast it reliably does.

We would say that, of course. Everything below is what our games hosts actually recommend when people ask what else there is to do.

2. Blackpool Tower Ballroom

Two minutes from our door and worth seeing even if you never dance. Sprung floor, Wurlitzer organ, and afternoon tea served at the tables around the edge. The Tower Eye at the top is a separate ticket if you want the view over the bay.

3. The three piers

North, Central and South, each with its own character, all within walking distance along the prom. North Pier is the oldest and the quietest, and the one to walk out along at sunset.

4. Stanley Park

A mile inland and a different world from the seafront: Italian gardens, a boating lake, a bandstand and woodland walks. It has been voted the country’s best park more than once, and almost nobody on a day trip thinks to go.

5. Fish and chips on the front

Obligatory. Yorkshire Fisheries on Topping Street is the town’s oldest chip shop and still the locals’ answer, a couple of streets back from the Promenade.

Before you go

Opening times, prices and menus change, so check with each place before you travel, especially out of season. Our own games are advance booking only, so book your slot first and build the rest of the day around it.
