1. Clue HQ Bournemouth
We are inside Laser Quest on Glen Fern Road, a few minutes from Bournemouth Square, with the multi-storey car park right next to the entrance. Three escape rooms, sixty minutes, private to your group.
We would say that, of course. Everything below is what our games hosts actually recommend when people ask what else there is to do.
2. The Lower Gardens
The strip of gardens that runs from the town centre down to the seafront, and the nicest way to walk to the beach. Flower displays, mature trees, a bandstand, and the winter light trail in December.
3. The beach and the pier
Seven miles of sand either side of the pier. Walk out to the end for the view back along the bay, and the arcades and ice cream are right there.
4. Hengistbury Head
Twenty minutes east and the best walk on this coast: a headland between the sea and Christchurch Harbour, with an Iron Age fort, a long view along the Solent to the Isle of Wight, and a land train back if legs give out.
5. Something sweet on the way back
Bournemouth does dessert properly. The cafés around Pier Approach and Albert Road do gelato, waffles and hot chocolate late into the evening, which suits a game that finishes at nine.
Before you go
Opening times, prices and menus change, so check with each place before you travel, especially out of season. Our own games are advance booking only, so book your slot first and build the rest of the day around it.
