Christmas nights out in Bristol beyond the market

Mulled wine is lovely for about twenty minutes. Here is what to do with the rest of a Christmas night out in Bristol.

The market is a starter, not the evening

Everyone goes, everyone queues, everyone stands in the cold holding a drink they have paid too much for. It is a nice half hour on the way to something else.

Something indoors and warm

An hour in a room with a door that locks is a good answer to December weather. Sixty minutes, private to your group, and it works for a family gathering as well as a night out with friends.

Groups, and the relatives you see once a year

Each room takes 2-6 players. Larger groups split across rooms and play at the same time, then compare times afterwards. We can take 18 people at once across the venue.

It is the rare thing that works across three generations, because spotting something in a room is not an age-based skill.

When to book

December weekends go weeks ahead. Weeknights stay open longer and the town is quieter around them.
