1. Clue HQ Kingston upon Thames
We are on the first floor at 402 Hook Rise North in Surbiton, above Toolstation beside the Shell garage on the Hook roundabout, with free parking at the front. Six escape rooms, the most of any Clue HQ, plus a party room you can book free for half an hour after your game.
We would say that, of course. Everything below is what our games hosts actually recommend when people ask what else there is to do.
2. The riverside and Canbury Gardens
Kingston’s best feature is its bit of the Thames. Walk north from the bridge through Canbury Gardens towards Teddington Lock, with the bandstand, the rowing clubs and a pub garden on the water at the far end.
3. Bushy Park
Eleven hundred acres and the second largest of the royal parks, with red and fallow deer roaming loose as they have since Henry VIII hunted here. The Woodland Gardens and the Diana Fountain are the two to aim for.
4. Hampton Court Palace
Twenty minutes away and worth a full day: Henry VIII’s kitchens, the state apartments, the gardens, and the famous maze. Going by river from Kingston in summer beats driving.
5. Kingston Ancient Market
The market place has been trading for centuries and still runs daily under the old town hall, with street food stalls at lunchtime. Good for feeding a group quickly before a game.
Before you go
Opening times, prices and menus change, so check with each place before you travel, especially out of season. Our own games are advance booking only, so book your slot first and build the rest of the day around it.
