How to plan a corporate away day in Birmingham

A half-day that people talk about afterwards, planned in the right order so nothing lands on you the morning of.

Start with the shape of the day

Most away days that work follow the same rhythm: something active in the morning while everyone is sharp, food in the middle, and something lighter after. An escape room sits best in the late morning or straight after lunch, when people are awake but not yet watching the clock.

Allow an hour and a half for a game including the briefing and photos. For a group of 20 that means two waves across two rooms, or a single wave across all four.

Numbers and rooms

Teams of four to six get the best experience. Below four the room feels quiet; above seven people start watching rather than playing. We run four escape rooms at once, so up to 24 people can play in the same slot, and The Portal takes another 40 when it opens.

Mix departments rather than letting people group with whoever they sit next to. The point is to watch your team solve something with people they do not normally solve things with.

Getting everyone here

We are on Lionel Street, five minutes from Snow Hill Station and ten from New Street, so nobody needs a car. Paid on-street parking is available for anyone driving in.

The bit people forget

Book the activity before the restaurant. Escape room slots on a Friday afternoon go weeks ahead, and a table is far easier to move than six game slots.

Tell us your numbers, date and any access needs through the team days page and we will hold the rooms while you confirm. We invoice, so nobody has to put it on a personal card.
