Find the one thing everyone does together
Most family days out split the group: something for the little ones, something for the teenagers, adults taking turns. An escape room is one of the few hours where a nine-year-old and a grandparent are genuinely on the same team, because nobody has an advantage.
Ours take ages 8 and up. Under 13s need an adult in the room, which is the point rather than a restriction.
Which room for a family
The Legend of Miyalock is the one. A mountain, a dragon and puzzles that reward looking closely rather than knowing things. Captain Riddle’s Forgotten Fortune is the next best for mixed ages.
Leave The Hellevator for teenagers and up, and Cluetankhamun for families who like being beaten.
Making a day of it
We are five minutes from Snow Hill Station, which makes the train the easy option. Pair a morning game with lunch in the Jewellery Quarter, the canals at Brindleyplace in the afternoon, or the Bullring if someone needs shops.
The practical bits
Allow an hour and a half. There are steps at the entrance and inside, so tell us in advance if that is a problem and we will talk it through. Book a slot rather than turning up - weekends and school holidays fill early.
